The Deane Center – "One Stop Shopping for the Arts"
The Deane Center for the Performing Arts will offer “one-stop shopping” for the community’s arts needs, a place where area musicians, artists, dancers, actors, and anyone interested in the fine and performing arts can gather to rehearse or perform. The new state-of-the-art facility will bring their many productions to a new level of excellence.
- 430-seat traditional proscenium style theater
- 155 seat flexible seating black box theater
- Additional rehearsal and performance studios for music, dance, and art
- Superior acoustics and aesthetics, including hi-tech climate control and direct sight lines
- Restoration and revitalization of the historic Davis Furniture buildings
- Over 23,000 square feet of new or renovated retail and multi-purpose space on Main Street
The Deane Center will also serve as a “home base” for extending a wider vision: to cultivate an interest in the arts in our young people. Collaborations with local schools and existing arts groups will offer opportunities to make the arts an integral part of education. Exciting prospects exist to engage Mansfield University in this unique endeavor.
Providing a Regional Impact Beyond the Arts
By providing a setting for meetings, conferences, and receptions and with its prominent Main Street location, the Deane Center will serve as a catalyst for tourism and economic development throughout the Northern Tier. In addition to our region’s unsurpassed natural beauty, wide array of outdoor activities, continuing education opportunities, and high quality healthcare, the Deane Center will further boost the Tioga Region’s appeal as a “destination” of choice. The vast number of activities hosted at the Center will enhance the quality of life for every resident of Tioga County, and serve as one more attraction for tourists, retirees, and even individuals or businesses considering relocation to the region.
